Recreational Lakes
Since we are 2 hours from the coast, there are a number of man-made recreational lakes to replace the beach environment. Many are hewn from the local Quercy stone as left-overs from quarrying activity, and they make a most acceptable substitute. Below are listed the more accessible;
Montcuq
Approximately 3km from Montcuq, 30 minutes from Roujol, this peaceful lake has a sandy shore, play park area for children, fishing and a restaurant open during the summer.
Beauville
Approximately 15km from Roujol, this lake offers swimming and canoe hire.
Montaigu-de-Quercy
This is probably the largest and potentially busiest lake with sandy beaches, water slides, pedaloe hire as well as 2 tennis courts and a restaurant. It is about 20 minutes from Roujol.
Tournon d'Agenais
A great lake for fishing & slow boating with children's play area, climbing equipment and a restaurant - About 30 minutes from Roujol.
St Nicholas de la Grave
This is where the Tarn and Garonne rivers meet; there is sailing, wind surfing, canoeing and swimming together with a children's play area. About 25 minutes from Roujol.

Michelin Green Guides
If you require local guide books you may wish to consider purchasing English language versions in the UK. Unfortunately we fall between two regions covered by the Michelin Green Guides, namely that for Dordogne/Berry/Limousin (ISBN 2-06-000871-9) - largely to the north of us - and that for Languedoc/Roussillon/Tarn Gorges (ISBN 2-06-000872-7) - to the south and east of us.
